What is a serial number or activation code?

A SmartGo license code looks something like this: A1B2-C3D4-E5F6-G7H8. You purchase it from SmartGo, and it unlocks your free download so you can keep using it after the 15-day trial period expires.

How does the activation process work?

When SmartGo prompts you at startup, enter the serial number. SmartGo will connect to our activation server on the internet and will verify that your serial number is legitimate. SmartGo is then unlocked and will not prompt you for the serial number again.

Can I activate without an internet connection?

Yes. If SmartGo can't connect to the activation server, it will give you the option to activate by email (which can be running on a different machine).

I purchased a serial number, but it doesn't work. Help!

Don't panic. Try again, entering each digit or letter by hand. You can also copy and paste the whole serial number. If it still fails, please contact SmartGo support.

Can I install SmartGo on multiple machines?

Yes, you can install SmartGo on two of your computers, such as desktop and laptop, or home and work, for example. You need to activate SmartGo separately on each computer.

What if I upgrade to another computer?

Simply uninstall the software on the old computer to deactivate it, and then install and activate it on your new computer.

What if my hard disk crashes?

If you run out of activations for any legitimate reason (hard disk crash, computer virus), please contact SmartGo support. We'll work with you to make sure you can keep using SmartGo.

What if I ever lose the SmartGo program or serial number?

Please contact SmartGo support. If you're a legitimate SmartGo customer, we'll work with you to make sure you can keep using SmartGo.
